October ’08 ENEWS

In the wake of Hurricane Ike, many, many families were dealt a tremendous blow to their homes, businesses, and in some instances, the loss of loved ones.  We in Harbour Town were so fortunate to have come through the storm with only minor inconveniences in comparison to the stories of devastation in the Galveston area.  In most cases, Harbor Town residents pulled together, helping each other with downed fences, leaky roofs, etc.  When it came to our freezers thawing out, some pooled their food, had cookouts, and invited friends to share in the “bounty”!  It is evident that we, here in Harbour Town, are a caring, and sharing community. Sometimes we take for granted the basic necessities of life, i.e. water, electricity, gas, food—and it’s when we don’t have them that separates the strong from the weak!  All in all, we can give each other a pat on the back for rising to the occasion and helping each other as we did.  It drew us all closer as friends and neighbors, and we are incredibly fortunate to live in such a community.

 Neighborhood News:

New Gate Code:  Enclosed please find you new gate code cards.  The new code will go into effect on October 1st. The old code will be removed on October 15.  Please make sure any service personnel that comes to you house on a routine basis is given the new code.

Construction Debris:   Many contractors are now working within HT to repair hurricane damage.  Please mention to any contractor working for you that they need to haul construction debris away and properly dispose of it at the dump.  Our garbage service only picks up “house-hold” trash.

The builder constructing the new town homes on Ketch Ct. is also having a problem with unauthorized use of his large dumpster, finding all kind of things in it.  The builder says it is really getting out of hand and he is going to prosecute anyone caught.
